  • Multiscale visualisation: review of collaborative tools publicly available (#biomedical)
    MSV EU funded project will release by the end of the year an open-source library for the multiscale interactive visualisation of biomedical data. The first step of the shared implementation phase has been to review the tools available in the different communities for the collaborative software implementation. This public documents summarised the best tools identified from different open-source projects. These will be the base for the deployment of the MSV collaborative open-source environment.

  • DISCIPULUS - Consultation meeting around the Digital Patient initiative
    The DISCIPULUS project began in October 2011, and will run until March 2013. The first consultation exercise will bring selected experts from the clinical, research and academic communities together to discuss issues surrounding the Digital Patient initiative. The exercise will involve working through clinical scenarios and case studies, with the aim to highlight the opportunities and challenges of integrating patient data and predictive models. This meeting will be focused on clinical and industrial needs and designed to gather information from a selected group of clinical and R&D colleagues. A second, larger meeting will be held at the end of November 2012, also in Barcelona. TIt will be open to anyone interested in shaping the Digital Patient roadmap and will be a two-day event.

  • Reducing the adverse drug event death toll- PSIP project
    By some estimates, inappropriate drug prescriptions claim the lives of more Europeans each year than traffic accidents. EU-funded researchers are using ICT to prevent such incidents. A software decision-support system warns healthcare professionals on a case-by-case basis of the potential risks of certain drugs for specific patients. Their ground-breaking system promises to save lives, improve patient care and reduce healthcare costs. PSIP project gathers a team of researchers from across Europe who developed innovative technologies to help doctors prescribe the right drugs based on patients' personal medical histories, the effects and side-effects of the drugs and other situation-specific factors.

  • 2nd International Doctors 2.0 & You Congress
    The 2nd Congress, under the High Patronage of the French ministry of health, will gather together 450 international supporters of health 2.0 and social media services to share ideas and best practices, increase cooperation and optimize the learnings. One of the unique features of Doctors 2.0 & You is that its 400+ participants hail from the five continents and represent all walks of Health and Medicine, public and private, government and pharma. Topics include: connecting the ePatient and the 2.0 doctor, online patient communities, online physician communities, Social Media and Personal Health Records, Social Media Campaigns for Government, Hospitals, Pharma, Mobile Apps for chronic patients, Mobile MedEd, Quantified Self, Pharma Cases and Regulatory issues. To note: participation is 25%-50% less expensive, while still offering the highest quality of speakers and venue.
